About Sigma Alpha Mu:

Sigma Alpha Mu has always stood for recruitment of new members solely on the basis of character. Our Fraternity adheres to high standards of scholarship, encourages service to the community, stresses loyalty to Alma Mater. Our Fraternity endeavors to be a constructive force in the lives of its sons. Within our chapters are forged life-long ties and associations...Sigma Alpha Mu can be judged by its product. Never any absorptions or mergers with other groups. Not one single honorary member. Yet on our roster are names of men who have gone forth from campus and chapter to distinguish themselves in every walk of life. Men who have given of themselves to build and sustain our Fraternity and to honor its name, and who themselves have grown and developed in the process. And others likes them will follow their example, for Sigma Alpha Mu is not complete and never will be.

At this 22 year tradition at the University of California, San Diego, the men of Sigma Alpha Mu are proud of what their Fraternity is, and prouder still of what it is going to become. Sigma Alpha Mu is a multi-faceted approach to campus and collegiate life: using social experiences, philanthropy, academics, and networking to better the lives of its members.

Gamma Rho Chapter, The Brotherhood, The Experience:                             

Gamma Rho Chapter is difficult to describe in words. The experience of being a part of Gamma Rho is life changing, the experience is unforgettable, and the brotherhood is so unique that to really have an understanding of who we are can only be found through taking the time to get to know us. With that said, I truly believe that our prestigious brotherhood and respectable presence is what we pride ourselves on. Our progressive rate of growth and our strongly structured brotherhood programs allows us to keep the most tightly knit fraternity on campus. We strive to uphold a classy and respectable image on campus whether its through our involvement with the administration and community, or our relationships with sororities, we try only to reflect a positive influence on others. In terms of our programming, what sets us apart from other chapters is our endless programs set in all areas of interest. There is practically never a day when there isn't something you can do within the fraternity. Events range anywhere from numerous exchanges with sororities every quarter, brotherhood events almost every week, intramural and interfraternity sports, study sessions, philanthropic endeavours, or social gatherings every weekend. Not only do we have all this going on, there are annual events we hold that will be the most memorable times of your life. From our annual Sammy Sandsculpture Philanthropy to our Disneyland Formal and Big Bear Semiformal or even our Memorial Day Brotherhood Boating Trip, every quarter there is so much to look forward to. The lists go on and on when it comes to the benefits and opportunities that Sigma Alpha Mu has to offer... in academics we rank highly among all fraternities and provide for our undergrads a large database of textbooks, tests/study guides, and other tools for all subjects. Networking options are very significant in our chapter, with strong alumni connections, we have built up an easy way to find jobs after the collegiate years pass. Leadership is strongly encouraged here at Gamma Rho, already having members involved in A.S, IFC, and other campus organizations, we work to get everyone involved and hope that everyone can build a strong resume from their leadership achievements found in Sigma Alpha Mu.
